Lisa McConnell Traditional Champion 2017

This years All Ireland Field Championships can be sumed up in a few words, class, challenging, steep, slippy, wet, dry, warm at times ! but above all this it was a championship to remember and that is all down to the hard work from everyone at City of Belfast Archers. Every other year Northern Ireland host the All Ireland Field Championships, this year Belfast Castle Estate was the venue and it did not dissapoint.   City of Belfast club excelled as hosts, not only with the venue for the two days of shooting but with the addition of a semi and finals fields in the beautiful gadrens surrounding the Castle itself.  All the extra effort by the club did not go unnoticed by all who shot in the finals or the many spectators who watched the archers battle it out for the podium places.

Joanne Walker Ladies Barebow Champion 2017

Banbridge Archery Club is very proud to announce that Lisa McConnell is 2017 Ladies Traditonal Champion along side Joanne Walker who won Ladies Barebow to become 2017 Barebow Champion. Both Lisa and Joanne were ranked in 1st place after the qualification round consisting of two days of shooting. Traditional ladies medals were decided after the qualification two days while Joanne had to shoot both a semi and final matches. Joanne went on to successfully win her semi final match against Irish archer Jane Langley followed by a Gold medal match win against another Irish archer Orla O'Connor to claim the much coveted All Ireland title.

4th place in Gents Barebow went to club member Phillip Fitzpatrick who shot consistantly over the weekend and Max Blair also braved the terrible weather during the weekend to claim a silver medal in Junior gents barebow.

During the weekend another group who work behind the scenes and who need a special mention are the fabulous judges they all worked tirelessly to keep us all safe on very testing surroundings. This year our club Chairman Andy was one of the judges who worked very hard over the weekend. To accompany Andy, Ciaran, John, Anne, Damien and Kevin all must get a special mention; and the master at arms Kevin from City of Belfast  should get a lot of credit in ensuring the finals ran smoothly. The settings for the finals were both beautiful and slightly intimating ! a great combo for the H2H's.
