Sad loss of Club Hero

Banbridge Archery Club has been saddened by the news of the death of one of their club members.

Victor Cunningham was a club member for around 30 years.

A former Vice-Chairman, Victor was keen to assist in many roles. He was Club Transport with his work van moving bosses and equipment to ‘Have a Go’ events etc., also club caterer for BBQs and the Annual Festive Charity Shoot in December due to his family’s enthusiasm for camping. He is fondly remembered ladling out copious amounts of mulled wine to cold and weary archers during these Festive Shoots.

Victor sponsored the club on many occasions and painted signs. He also was an executive member of the former Banbridge Sports Council, now ABC Council looking after the club’s profile, keeping them abreast of issues and funding opportunities

His passion for archery and the club transferred over to his son Martin who has made a career of archery.

Martin is a respected member and coach of Dublin Archers. He also coaches other college clubs in Ireland including Dublin City University and Trinity College Dublin. Martin and his wife Sinead are active international archers who continue to shoot for Ireland and the couple still retain links to Banbridge Archery Club.
